HOW TO WORK IN BRUNEI FOREVER LOOPHOLE
Jul 20th, 2010, 10:40am

HOW TO WORK IN BRUNEI FOREVER LOOPHOLE.

Many foreigner friends have told us that they have found a way to work in Brunei forever.

What they do is to get caught by immigration department for immigration violation and they get special pass and just chop every week or whatever is required.

So, they can work as long as they like.. is this true?

Perhaps, the new minister and the new director might want to learn the trade.

Happy learning.

Should be no problem, as the new director is very sharp with paper work and statistics and publish in e-govt portal and he is eager to show his worth as new director, where previously, directors are said to be puppets only and the workforce have their own territories. Grin
He doesn't know much about legal stuff anyway, is it time we get appropriate people with something to do with law or labour law degress to head this department?

How come you don't know, I have been employing special pass holders for many years. They go choppig in enforcement it's their problems, for me I don't have to get quotas to employ foreigners, easy way out for me and for them. The ones working for me already 3 years chopping every few weeks, so I am happy.

Some get weekly chop, some more than that, depends how good their relationships lah. Pandai2 cari makan beb.

But I wonder also, if their parents dying, wives dying, children dying, how to go back without their passports? What is the humans rights status for them? How many years can we hold them up here?
Who will be responsible for them?

Of course they are happy mah, but have to think of families also mah. Money can get anytime anywhere lah, family die or invite them happy functions cannot come after many years passports held up in Brunei mah, who care for them? I also pity them lah.

I hope with new cabinet leaders and new SUT or directors, things will change for the better and we take responsibilty for what we work and get salary for.

I think, the statistics part for the illegal and special passes have been ignored for a long time that they could be manipulated or could breeed corrupt practices.

Now, the foreigner with special pass working for me is getting more of his relatives come here because he knows the loopholes inside out already and he is familiar with the officers chopping for him already and he is calling himself "specialpass con-sultan or specialist".

I wonder also, how many hours are spent in this chopping process? Are we paying these officers so much for these only and they become mr. chopper or mdm chopper only? How we wish our new leaders are more analytical and change the way things are done by the previous administration. I heard most files are not updated too. Oh well, we are not the leaders to administer these stuff...

I hope it is good for all of us and them and would not be a breeding ground for vice, corruption and AIDS because they seem to have no status and don't go for health checkups after many years and they are like "untouchables" after they get special passes.

I have a feeling some surprise visits will be conducted, because the new administration will be interested to learn about the real situation where we would see many nationalities in the enforcement office with various problems, complaints, etc.

Thank you foryour info, my friends and relatives are happy to know about this loophole, so they are going to get special pass workers only and easier for them.

What I hear also is many Chinese from China and other countries know about this loophole and will be coming in boat loads or ferries or AirAsia and Cebupacific cheap flights to take advantage of this loophole.

So, I am not sure what the effects would be like, how much unnecessary efforts wouod be required from police or others.

So much from uncontrolled, poorly administered departments can cause so much chaos in an otherwise peaceful country.

Would it mean more rape cases, drug smuggling, beer smuggling, robberies or thefts. murders, by desperate, hungry foreigners on special passes?

As this sounds scary, the public have the right to know the statistics from the immigration department immediately!

Worst of all, Brunei would be the best hide-out for terrorists or runaway criminals or sepcial agents trying to destroy our country our national security!

PS. There is a rumour about unreported case of a lady driver raped in the huaho tg bunut basement carpark, what if it is true?

Are we in control or losing control to foreigners? Wheres the controller of immigration?

HOW TO "ROB" BRUNEI FOREVER LOOPHOLE

Householders tied during dawn heist
Bandar Seri Begawan - Armed men in masks sneaked into a house in the wee hours of yesterday, tied up its occupants and stole cash, jewels and valuables in a brazen ...

It happened again!!!  This is very scary. Are there anything we can do to catch these culprits?  One thing for sure on how we can help is to report any offers to buy stolen goods.
I made it a point never to buy anything that I am suspicious of its source regardless of how attractive is the price.

I thought I was right when I said about our force being outnumbered by all these "hungry" people!

Better monitor our forces movements so that there are no "duri dalam daging"!

YDM Pehin Menteri, we had better take actions in our statistics and don't let our immigration, police, customs and other authorities be the "GATEWAY" for our destruction!

Better monitor our forces, so that no "DURI DALAM DAGING"!

i have been thinking about bad apples today too.. are we getting too many by pushing to the 60-year-old pencen age..

my logic is that if we are looking at trimming rba.. why fatten the whole workforce..

im sure tap can manage to dispense the duit steadily.. but no more 0% annual dividend again OK?! Angry

They see the loophole but the anti-vice police also see hole in the condom lah, so they get fined or jailed and out of curiosity, what is the  procedure after being fined? DO THEY GET DEPORTED? AT WHOSE EXPENSE?

How many foreigners are issued "special passes"? What happens to them when on "special passes"? What is the longest period allowed to hold them under "special passes"? Can they work while on "special  passes"? What is labour law for foreigners under "specialpasses"? What is the maximum period they can be held under "special passes"?

IF THESE ISSUES ARE NOT ADDRESSED, THEY USED AS "LOOPHOLES" and EVEN CORRUPTION "LOOPHOLES"!!

HL,
About these special passes. I know someone who have a family member who was issued this special passes. What happened was that she works for a restaurant owned by a local lady. The employer took away their passports as soon as they arrived. The employer told them that their work permit are all in up to date and in good order. By then the staffs have not been paid several months of salaries. Most of them wanted to go home to their country.
One day immigration and labour raided the restaurant and issued special passes to all the foreign employees of the restaurant as they could not locate the employer. The employer refuses to show up despite many attempts by the immigration reach her. She was avoiding them. It got me wondering why not ask the police for help. Arrest her for immigration violations.
After a few months with the help of the embassy, these staffs managed to get a new passport so that they can go home. Immigration was quite strict with them and were treating these staffs as being the guilty party. For me I think they should really go after the employer who had violated immigration and labour laws. She also made the staffs suffers.

So from this incident, I don't see special passes being something that foreign workers would want to have.

one thing for sure everybody wants to see the leaders in charge of this issue understand the issue or basically, COMPETENT TO DO THE JOB!

If necessary, review what is necessary and get suitable people knowledgable in legal qualification as already practiced in anti corruption bureau leaders previously.

we don't want to see "robots" who are not competent and it is overdue to review old procedures which provide loopholes for corrupt "money face" and lazy incompetent officers!

We should be concerned about those "Robots" we have in the government but the buzzword today is "Little Napoleans". We should also be very concerned about Little Napoleans running and hampering growth in our economy.

Many of us need a roadshow by immigration department, now that they have a new director and the crime rate for Brunei is on the increase!

Many of us need a roadshow by immigration department and RBPF, and also ACB now that immigration have a new director and the crime rate for Brunei is on the increase and we would like to know which is losing power, RBPF or immigration and how corruption or selling our country affect crime rate and our sovereignty..

PUBLIC FUME OVER SPECIAL PASS OFFENDER

PUBLIC FUME OVER SPECIAL PASS IMMIGRATION OFFENDER

By Azlan Othman
Borneo Bulletin 7th August, 2010

A concerned member of the public expressed his dissatisfaction over an Indonesian worker who allegedly operates a grilled food business despite being already issued with a "special pass" by the immigration department.

It was also alleged that the foreign worker operates without a miscellaneous license at Jln Muara which is violating chapter 127 of Miscellaneous License Act.

The immigration department when contacted said they were investigating the case and said the person-in-question could still be under investigation or awaiting deportation to his country of origin.

The concerned public lamented how one could still carry out business if hte person with "special pass" offender is under investigation..

WHAT IF HE GOOUT KILLING PEOPLE OR RAPING PEOPLE?
DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THAT HAPPENS?

THEY SHOULD BE PUT IN "QUARANTINE" CENTRE!

In other countries, that is how foreigners bribe the officers so that they are given "special pas" and it gives immunity to them for as long as many years on "special pass".

WE HAVE BEEN ASKING THE IMMIGRATION TO PRODUCE STATSTICS ON "SPECIAL PASS" FOREIGNERS!

DON't THEY KNOW HOW TO DO THAT JOB? IF HTEY DON't KNOW HOW TO DO THE JOB THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED BY JOBLESS "NATIONAL DIPLOMA" GRADUATES OR IS IT THE DIRECTOR IS OVERPOWERED BY HIS LITTLE NAPOLEONS?

OUR LOCAL SME ARE TOLD TO SHUTDOWN BUSINESS FOR THE SAME OFFENCE BUT HOW COME TZHEY CLOSE ONE EYE ON FOREIGNERS?!

KERA DI HUTAN DI SUSUI ANAK DI RUMAH MATI KELAPARAN!!

SADAR LAH WAHAI PEGAWAI2 SUAPAN, JANGAN SEBAB DUIT MASA DEPAN BANGSA DAN NEGARA DI GADAIKAN!

PERIUK NASI ORANG SENDIRI DI PACAH! KESALAHAN ORG LUAR DEPAN MATA PURA2 NDA TAU!

The above are from various friends and others.
